There's a simple reason we do what we do: our belief that we can help make real change.

That's why we work everyday to elect good, progressive candidates; why we fight to protect our environment; and why we're committed to defending workers' rights, civil rights and human rights.

That’s not all we believe – but it is a large part of who we are.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

-Margaret Mead

For almost 20 years, MacWilliams Sanders Communication has worked with progressive organizations, labor unions, Democratic candidates, foundations and issue campaigns. We work with our clients to develop innovative strategies that engage people, produce media that moves people, and place advertising that connects with people. The result: effective communications that help our clients win.

OUR TEAM

We like what we do, and we like the people we work with. We've produced campaign winning media, planned and managed campaigns, and launched cutting-edge new media communications that converged with traditional media to deliver a potent punch. We understand targeting and modeling on all scales, and most importantly -- we work to understand where our clients are coming from and to help them get where they want to go.

MATTHEW MACWILLIAMS, FOUNDING PARTNER

Matthew works out of our Amherst, Massachusetts bunker we fondly call “Ice Station Zebra.” He founded MSC nearly twenty years ago and has built it into one of the leading strategic media firms for candidates, initiatives, unions, causes, foundations, and progressive organizations in the United States.

Under Matthew’s leadership, MSC has won campaigns in more than 30 states, and has received over 110 national advertising and communications awards. Prior to founding the firm, Matthew authored and then updated the original series of campaign “how to” manuals for the DNC, served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Walter Mondale for President, and published the Polling Report. Campaigns & Elections Magazine dubbed him a “Media Wizard” for his work on winning campaigns during the 1994 elections – that, as you might remember, were not so kind to some Democrats who did not have the good fortune of working with Matthew. Since then, he has continued to innovate and lead the firm in developing and applying new, cutting-edge media solutions to help our clients win.

CLARE ORVIS, ASSOCIATE

An avid member of Red Sox Nation from western Massachusetts, Clare fits right in at MSC. Since joining the firm as an intern in 2005, she has worked with our clients on political, production, and placement aspects of many campaigns. Clare currently coordinates the firm’s online social networking strategies and acts as the firm’s media buyer. Clare earned her BS in International Politics from Georgetown University with a minor in Asian Studies, so when she isn’t formulating media advice and putting together buys she spends her time at the zoo speaking Chinese with the pandas.

DON SANDERS, CREATIVE DIRECTOR & PARTNER

Known for his quick wit, Don enjoys the solitude of the editing studios at MSC where he produces award winning – and more importantly -- election winning advertising for our clients. During his thirteen years at the firm, Don has developed, produced, and edited more political, initiative and advocacy advertising than any other creative director in politics. His documentary and advertising work has won awards from the Houston International Film Festival, Chicago InterCom, Columbus International Film and Video Festival, American CINE Awards, Media and Methods Magazine and the American Bar Association. Don’s creative skills and thorough knowledge of the latest production techniques have put MSC at the forefront of communications year after year.
